i have a friend who saves
hundreds of Monarch Butterflies every year,
He provides an environment
where they can lay their eggs;
then he takes those eggs into his home
to a climate controlled terrarium.
He watches while they hatch, while they eat
and while they attach themselves to
the structure to create their chrysalis.
When they emerge from the chrysalis,
he takes them, each one personally,
to the yard
that is a glorious sanctuary for birds and butterflies.
This painting was created to honour his
service to this endangered species.
